Christmas Tree Excess
I am sure this will not sit well with some here in Granville but personally I do not like the Trees running down South Main St. They have come and marked out the utilities so the 4x4 poles can be dug into the ground to support the electrical wires. The markers, posts, and wires take away more than the trees add. Plus it is all just a big waste of money.
What is the cost of this every year? It has to be at least 10k. The trees downtown are a nice touch, could use some colored lights (IMHO) but nice for a downtown setting. Extending this down Main St is just too much. With the economy in the toilet and two wars going on, it just seems pompous and distasteful.
I would rather send our troops some goodie bags than waste a pile of money on some short lived decorations.
Please quit throwing our money away, it goes altogether too quickly without buying trees to grind up and labor to install/uninstall frivilous and tacky window dressing we don’t need.
I do not want to come across as a Scrooge here but really, enough is enough and this is too much.
Oh and I am thinking of changing my name to BALLUS FICTIOUS legally… I think it sounds like a Roman Gladiators name :)

Pretty much agree with your post here but what really caught my eye was your last line. I too have always felt that Ballus Fictious would make a great Roman gladiators name. May I have the honor of being your first opponent……you can call me: Dikaios Pistis

the point of the trees is to draw people to town
to look
eat
shop
and buy property
somewhat like the 4th of july
and the blues fest ( at least it was )
