Molly Roberts Honored for her 23 Years of Dedicated Service to the Village
It is always interesting to watch people who are true professionals in their field. Last night’s Village Council meeting was no exception.
Molly Roberts delivered a presentation to Council on the 2010 Village budget. In a well-thought out, measured presentation, Roberts noted revenues had been estimated on "a conservative basis;" she talked of the "practical course of action for this government." Her competence was palpable. The audience was seeing how local management ought be done.
At the close of the presentation the members of Council passed a resolution expressing their appreciation for Roberts’ contributions to the community.
In today’s world many may find it hard to imagine the depth and length of dedication to her work and the Village that Molly has shown over 23 years as Assistant Village Manager, Finance Director, Tax Commissioner, Accounting Clerk, and Police Dispatcher.
The wording of Council’s resolution is telling:
WHEREAS, in those many years of service Molly has performed with dedication and distinction, leading by example and earning the deep respect and gratitude of the citizens, the Village council, and the Village staff; and
WHEREAS, Molly is known for her patient, diplomatic leadership and for her understanding and knowledge of all areas of the Village that, combined, have enabled her to help the community solve many difficult issues; and
WHEREAS, Molly has helped guide the Village in many ways from the planning and execution of major street improvements, the purchasing and sale of Village property, managing the Village’s finances with prudence and conservatism, providing an invaluable level of institutional knowledge and working tirelessly to maintain open and equal communication with Village staff; and…
Molly Roberts ended her budget presentation noting "we have a lot to be proud of in Granville." Well, Granville has a lot to be proud of in Molly Roberts.
The Granville Press wishes Molly well in her new, and better, position as the City of Worthington’s Director of Finance. She will be missed.
