Hooray For Our School Board!

Tonight the Granville School Board will meet and discuss the recent decision of Newark's Mayor Bain to extend water and sewer into William Kraner's land in the Granville school district.

Everyone knows this will hurt the Newark schools as well as the Granville schools. It's a very bad state of affairs for our two communities. The only person helped by this situation is Mr. Kraner himself - the houses he builds on this property will be worth much more if they are in the Granville school district instead of the Newark district.

Bain and Kraner have gone around the rules to avoid the long-standing policy of Newark not to extend utilities without annexation. Such annexation, in this case, would have triggered the agreement between the two school districts. The district lines would have been adjusted to move this land into the Newark district.

More houses and kids help the Newark schools. More houses and kids hurt Granville schools.

Well, tonight, the Granville School Board is going to consider transfering the land into the Newark school district. The Newark School Board will surely accept the transfer - both districts win and Mr. Kraner will be back to where he was before the shenanigans with Mayor Bain.
